In most cases people who say they are not in love anymore and that the love is gone are people who never were in love indeed. They are people who have confused love and some another feeling. See, there are emotions common for people and there are feelings and it is important to realize the difference between those phenomena.
And the main difference is that emotions strike our imagination and reveal our hormones and those are gone just as quick as those come, but feelings is something deeper and permanent. Feelings may never go, they may be made to go away but those never disappear just like that. And this is the difference Mark Twain noticed when was talking about love.
He said that there is no way for a person to say he or she is in love with a person until they spend for at least 25 years married. Indeed, it is easy to love a person when there is nothing that connects you, when there are no troubles and you see this person not that often as you want to see him or her. But it is the real love that still with you no matter on the years.
